Gulab Jamun
Gulab Jamun

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup milk powder
  • 2 teaspoon all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon suji/rawa/semolina
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon butter/gheep
  • Milk little enough to make the dough
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 drops of rose essence/saffron
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder

How to prepare Gulab Jamun Recipe:

  • Take a bowl, add milk powder, all purpose flour, suji, baking powder, ghee/butter and mix it thoroughly.
  • Sprinkle milk from all sides to form a smooth dough and keep aside for 20 mins.
  • Meanwhile in a pan prepare sugar syrup by adding sugar, water, rose essence, cardamom powder.
  • Cook it until the sugar gets dissolved in water.Transfer the syrup in a bowl and keep warm.
  • To make gulab jamun balls first apply some butter to your hands and make very smooth balls, make sure that there are no cracks in them. This makes approximately 15-20 balls depending upon the size you make.
  • In another pan pour oil for deep frying, you should be careful while frying the balls, fry it under medium to low temperature.
  • If the oil is too hot, then your gulab jamuns tend to break and do not cook from inside.
  • Place the balls slowly one by one into the pan, the balls will sink to the bottom of the pan and then slowly rises to the top after 1 min.
  • The balls should be fried on a medium heat temperature so that the balls cook evenly from inside and also turn brown in colour from all the sides.
  • Remove the balls and transfer it in warm sugar syrup, you will notice that the gulab jamun balls increases in size after transfering it in sugar syrup.

Taddahh...the mouth watering gulab jamuns are ready to serve. Sprinkle some chopped dry fruits.
